Start with the use case
Small retail price tags, jewellery labels, shipping labels and durable asset labels each have different requirements. First decide which label materials and widths the printer must handle.
Print width and resolution
Check usable print width, supported label media width and the print resolution. Small type and dense barcodes may need a higher resolution, depending on the label artwork and print conditions.
Connectivity and consumables
Choose the appropriate USB, Ethernet or wireless capability. Then verify replacement ribbons, media core sizes, roll diameter, software language and service availability.
